Leslie E. Hendricks is a N.Y. State Licensed
Massage Therapist who has been successfully practicing massage
therapy and bodywork within the Tri-State area and abroad for
over fourteen years. She has enjoyed a privileged affiliation
with NYC's exclusive CARLYLE HOTEL since 1990,
and has worked for other upscale Spa and Massage Therapy establishments
such as CARAPAN (NYC); THE STRESS LESS STEP (NYC); ANUSHKA
SPA & SANCTUARY (NYC); THE PENINSULA HOTEL, SPA and Fitness
Center (NYC).
Ms. Hendricks' accreditation, experience
and knowledge in the field of Massage Therapy include:
Graduate of THE SWEDISH INSTITUTE OF MASSAGE
THERAPY (1988); Licensed with the N.Y. State Board of Education
since May 1989 (License # 004464); Training in Shiatsu, Pre-
and Post-Natal Massage Techniques; Facial Rejuvenation (a 'Graf'
system); Sports Massage Techniques and Flexibility (Aaron Mattes);
Trigger Point Therapy; Neuromuscular Re-Education; Somatosynthesis
(a workshop with Clyde W. Ford, D.C.); Upledger's CranioSacral
Therapy I and II; Upledger's Lymph Drainage Therapy I; Lymph
Drainage Therapy of the Face, Neck and Head (a workshop with
Joseph Nicastro, C.M.T., C.N.M.T.) and Low Back and Hips Pain
Management Series (a workshop with Joseph Nicastro, C.M.T.,
C.N.M.T.) — both under the auspices of The North Jersey
Massage Training Center, Parsippany, NJ.
For two consecutive summers (1991 and 1992),
Ms. Hendricks lent massage support to internationally renowned
photographer/artist/author, William Wegman, and his Polaroid crew
during major photo shoots for Wegman's celebrated work, including
his innovative remake of the classic children's book: LITTLE
RED RIDING HOOD.
Both in January 1993 and January 1994, Ms.
Hendricks joined a team of professionals to set up a "Spa
Week" at CAP JULUCA - a tony resort on the island of Anguilla
in the balmy British West Indies. The "SPA WEEK" was
sponsored by CHANEL, INC. as part of a highly
successful fundraising event for THE BOYS' CLUB OF NEW
YORK.
In 1995, Ms. Hendricks spearheaded "HEALING
HANDS MASSAGE-A-THON" — a local fundraising effort
in response to the Watchung Plaza (Montclair, NJ) Post Office
Massacre. This unprecedented event united the entire community.
Over 30 professional Massage Therapists donated their services
to raise considerable monies, which directly went to benefit
the victims' families.
In October 2001, Ms. Hendricks volunteered
her massage services at the AMERICAN RED CROSS
respite (temporarily stationed at the Marriott Hotel, World Trade
Center) to help provide relief to the weary rescue workers (i.e.,
hero firefighters, policemen and -women, sanitation crew, etc.)
in the terrible aftermath of 9-11.
Currently, Ms. Hendricks resides in
Montclair, NJ; where she has established and enjoys her private
practice and continues to promote the benefits of massage therapy
through her public lectures and journalistic endeavors.
